Drafting Drafts

I found the reading for Friday April 15th to be extremely helpful for me. I am worried about putting all of my essays together into one project. At first I though, "This will be easy," but now my thoughts have flip flopped. I am terrified, the length scares me and after the examples we have read in class I am not sure my paper will stand out. Then I read the Resisting writing and laughed, because I can related, I do not want to write because it is hard to get started and I usually think of something else that needs to be done. And that is how I am feeling about starting to pull together this essay. Then I moved on to read Drafting Drafts and it gave me tips and idea of how to short through all my notes and random papers of observations and pull everything together for a final paper. As the reading suggested, I might lay out all of my observations on the floor and figure out how to make it flow. For me, getting started and figuring out where to go with my papers is the hardest part, and this reading showed me that the best idea is to "just do it." I can edit it and make flow smoothly later on.  After moving and reading the second section of the book I found myself marking the page for future reference. I spend many hours re-writing and re-phrasing my essay and this section gave me tips on how to revise my paper in a more efficient way.  My favorite and I found will be the most helpful to me is, "Write and edit out loud." This is the third time in the past week people have told me to read out loud because it helps you to edit your paper better. So, I think it is time I try reading my paper out loud when I edit and revise it. I found this reading to be helpful and force me to think about where i want to go with my reading. Also, it has somehow had me become eager to try writing a first draft for my final paper.
