I enjoyed the essay "Slide, Roll, Slam" because it was very descriptive. I noticed that the title is fun and still relates to the essay. I also like how it is written to seem like one day in the bowling ally, even though I know all that information and description must have taken longer then one trip. I enjoy how the author goes into a lot of detail about the male chris she observes. She describes what he wears as well as how he bowls and works at the ally. I was surprised to read that this bowling ally has teams for special needs and handicap people. This is because in the essay before this one she said that the bowling ally is small and old. Another thing that surprised me was the selection of food the bowling ally offers. I do not think I have been to a bowling ally that had a selection so big or so random. I agree with the author when she says that she thinks the old men cheer more because they are there to have fun while the young men don't cheer as much because they care more about wining the match. I enjoyed how the chairs were described because they were mismatched, it shows the the bowling ally is old. Another thing I enjoyed is that the author gave a the reader listed what she actually saw on the bulletin board. Another thing I found to be interesting is the names of the teams. I find it odd that the grown up league chooses their own names and the children do not. I would think that the situation would be reversed. But overall i found the essay to be enjoyable and very descriptive.
When i went looking for a good bowling picture i came across this video and it is the type of person that the author describes because this he is an old man, having fun and enjoying bowling.
I agree! I loved all the details that described everything from the building itself to the people and what they were wearing. The author goes into even further detail describing how the people act also. I also thought that the special needs and handicap bowling leagues were really cool too!
